Fall events – starting soon!

Happy September! I can’t quite believe that it’s Septmber 1st today, but my calendar claims it’s true. Fall is on its way and with that comes some great new programs for our fall calendar.

saltauthor-highresThe first event features Michele Longo Eder, from Newport. She wrote a memoir called Salt in our Blood: The Memoir of a Fisherman’s Wife, which recently won the 2009 WILLA award for Creative Non-fiction.

Here’s a little blurb about her book:

In 2000, Michele Longo Eder began a journal to record what daily life was life for her while her husband and sons were out commercial fishing off the coasts of Oregon, Washington, and norther California. But personal tragedy struck just before Christmas 2001. This book is an offer of healing to her family, her community, and to fishing families everywhere.

saltcover-highresCome hear Michele speak at the library about her fascinating book on Tuesday, September 22nd at 7:00 PM.

For more information about Michele and her memoir, check out her website.

There are more great programs coming in October – stay tuned for info about those!
