Time for Taxes
We have started to get questions about tax forms at the library, so this seems like a good time to write about the tax program at CBCPL.
As in past years, there will be free tax filing sponsored by the AARP. The filing is done electronically and no forms are required. At the Corvallis Library the tax aides will be here on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. No appointments required or taken at this location. It won’t be news to those of you who have been around the last several years, but we no longer have tax forms at the library. The best place to get them is printed from the IRS website:
and the Oregon Dept of Revenue (ODR) site:

We can print forms for you at the second floor reference desk. Printouts are 10 cents a page. There will be some library-use only copies of the 1040, 1040-EZ, and 1040A instruction booklets, and of Publication 17, Your Federal Income Tax Guide for individuals.
This year, to save costs, the ODR will not be sending any OR instruction booklets to libraries. We will have library-use copies of the booklets as well as Publication 17 1/2, the Oregon Individual Income Tax Guide.
Nobody loves tax season, but we want it to go as smoothly as possible for you. Please consider filing electronically with tax aides, and as always, call us at the Reference desk, 541-766-6793 if you have any questions.
