In the garden of ideas

geranium by emdot, on flickr

Tuesday is usually my day to blog – it’s on my calendar. Today I’m having trouble coming up with a great topic to blog about. My mind flits around like a bee in a garden, from idea to idea. Maybe it’s the sunshine, or the colorful geraniums our supervisor brought in for us second floor librarians. (Thank you, Mary!) :)

There are so many great things here in the library that I could blog about; I’m spoiled for choice! I realized this is a good problem to have, so I’m going to write about the fact that I am thankful to be able to work in a place that is so full of ideas.

What I get excited about is seeing all of you in the library, tapping away at your laptops or on our public computers. I know a lot of you are working on something important, be it a job application, an essay, a research proposal, a grant application, or your first novel. It’s great to be part of an institution that is here not only to serve up other people’s ideas to you, but to help you develop your ideas to share with others. Isn’t that what the value of a public library is really all about?
