Music at your library
Not only do we have lots of Music CDs but we have several unique streaming audio databases. My favorite of these is Smithsonian Global Sound.
Once logged in, you can choose a way to browse. I love the ability to search by instrument. Here I chose Idiophone>Xylophone>Gambang.
Once I click on Gambang (the instrument I wanted) I get a list of songs that feature that specific instrument.
Finally, I choose the track to listen to and a streaming player launches.
This is a great way to introduce yourself to the sounds of world instruments. It also opens up a whole new world of listening. You won’t find most of this stuff on the radio!
