Jerome David Salinger

American novelist and short story writer J D Salinger, author of The Catcher In The Rye, died of natural causes at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010.   He was 91.

What to read next? Book lists from Multnomah County Library

I recently discovered the wealth of book lists available on the Multnomah County Library website.
Last week I used it to help a patron who wanted a list of mystery authors from other countries.

Award-winning authors reading at Corvallis

On Monday, April 20th at 7pm, we are honored to have three Oregon Book Award winning and nominated authors visiting our library. They will be reading from their books, and afterward there will be conversation with the authors, book sales and book signing.

Yesterday I stepped out into my small side yard and heard a very loud buzzing sound.  First I thought, “what kind of power tool is that?”.   I then looked up at the two plum trees in my neighbor’s yard, and was amazed to see that they were filled with bees.

What’s your favorite novel of all time?

I had someone ask me this question at the reference desk the other day. I don’t really have one particular favorite, and this sort of made me feel like a bad librarian.
